Cardiff Lockdown Filming

We were asked to shoot Cardiff City Centre during the Corona Virus lockdown.

The request came in and before you know you know it we were on the extremely quiet streets of Cardiff with our Rc tracking buggy.

The buggy was the absolute perfect piece of equipment to use in these circumstances. The buggy operator and camera operator could safely work inside the van whilst the buggy remotely navigated the streets.

It was important to work closely with South Wales Police who advised us how we should approach filming in the streets and complying with the governments advice on social distancing. After explaining how the buggy worked and the procedures we have in place we were granted permission to film for a day.

We mounted the Movi Carbon (5 axis head) to the buggy which allowed us to really punch in one some shots then zoom out for that dramatic reveal.

Additionally we needed a couple of aerials of the city and Cardiff Council were kind enough to give us access to Cardiff Castle.

You can watch the film below, it’s a bit surreal…

Big thank you to Ali at Cardiff film office and South Wales Police.

Stay Safe!
